Looking forward to Oracle OpenWorld 2015

Oracle OpenWorld is a three-day Oracle event in San Francisco. This year I’ll be joining the convention for the fourth time. At Saturday, October 24 we’ll arrive in San Francisco with 9 colleagues. I’m really looking forward to spending time with my colleagues and finding out more about the technology roadmaps of Oracle Products.

In 2011 I went to Oracle OpenWorld for the first time. When I became an Oracle ACE in 2012 I launched my first book at the convention. That year I wrote my first book about operational administration of Oracle WebLogic Server, called Oracle Weblogic Server 11gR1 PS2: Administration Essentials. And in 2013 and 2014 I’ve had the honor to give two presentations at Oracle OpenWorld.

2012: Launch of QAFE

The highlight of Oracle OpenWorld for me was in 2012, when we were invited at the Dutch consulate in San Francisco to launch QAFE, our product which enables clients to convert Oracle Forms to ADF or HTML5. Tip: also read the blog of my colleague Rokesh who will present QAFE at Oracle Open World 2015. The past years I also really enjoyed going sailing together in the San Francisco Bay with our clients and other business connections.

Going sailing again

My colleagues and I will be in San Francisco the whole week. Our hotel is at walking distance from the Moscone center. So Oracle OpenWorld is a good chance to spend time with my colleagues too. Most days we’ll be joining activities and having dinner together. Also this year we’re going sailing again with our business connections, which I am really looking forward to.

Technology roadmaps

What I’m also looking forward to is finding out more about the technology roadmaps of the Oracle Product line, plus I’d like to discuss with other companies what they think of it. At Qualogy I’m really involved in this subject, so I can’t wait to see the products and releases other companies are working on. What I am also curious about, is how other companies view Qualogy, what do they think of us? So I’ll be asking around and talk to people about this at Oracle OpenWorld.

2015: 2 Minute Tech Tip

I’ve been asked by Bob Rhubart of the Oracle Technology Network to record one of their ‘2 Minute Tech Tips’ in person in the OTN Lounge at Oracle OpenWorld. A 2 Minute Tech Tip is a video tip from an expert in a specific Oracle field of expertise. So this is quite an honor for me. My Tech Tip-video will be placed in the online magazine after the convention at blogs.oracle.com. I’ll keep you posted!
